…and still the original Dying Light continues to expand. Hot on the heels of Techland teasing more Dying Light 2 info, the game which set the series in stone has today been updated, with a brand new Story Mode and additional weapons dropping in to the Hellraid content for free.

Dying Light’s dark-fantasy Hellraid DLC has today received a brand new update, one that arrives for free to players on all platforms – Xbox, PlayStation and PC – bringing with it a new Story Mode – The Prisoner, and additional weapons to help any would-be players on their quest.

Story Mode is a narrative rich addition that sees players venture deep into the demon-infested bowels of Ba’al’s Temple to rescue Lucius, a mysterious and powerful mage from captivity. This new mode features three new quests – Clavis Stone, Imprisoned and Beneath Seals – all of which are available in co-op mode, along with new locations and a fearsome new shield bearing skeleton enemy; go up against them and it’ll require an whole new offensive strategy take.

To assist you on on your quest, this new update will also provide access to Hellraid’s first-ever ranged weapon, Corrupted Justice – an ornate and powerful bow, alongside the chance for you to get your hands on the Bonecruncher – a heavyweight and formidable Two-Handed Hammer.

The Story Mode will sit neatly alongside the pre-existing Raid Mode, which will still be accessible after completing the new narrative prologue.

But that’s not all and the content drop also overhauls the lighting system and adds additional environmental sounds which dramatically enhance the tone and atmosphere of the game. You’ll also find changes to in-game animations, improved minimap functionality, inventory management and more.

If you’re not entirely down with the scene, Dying Light: Hellraid is an entirely new game mode for Dying Light based on Techland’s currently-on-hold first-person fantasy slasher, Hellraid. You’ll find it available to purchase now for PC and consoles with the Xbox Store providing access to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players. It’s also included in the recent Dying Light: Platinum Edition.

Should you not be able to wait until Dying Light 2 and need a fix, this should certainly cover your needs. Give it a shot and let us know how you get on.
